Data protection

In accordance with Article 13 of the Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation and the provisions of the Swiss Data Protection Act, every person has the right to privacy, as well as to protection from misuse of their personal data. We comply with these legal requirements. We treat personal data as strictly confidential and do not sell or pass data on to third parties.

In close cooperation with our hosting providers, we endeavour to protect our databases, as far as is practicable, from access by unauthorised persons, as well from loss, misuse or falsification.

When you access our website, the following data will be stored in logfiles: your IP address, the date and time of your query, and general information pertaining to your operating system and browser. This data will form the basis for anonymous, statistical evaluations that allow us to identify trends and potentially improve the content of the website.

Privacy statement relating to Google Analytics 

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies, i.e. text files that are stored on your computer in order to analyse your use of the website. The information generated by cookies regarding your use of this website will generally be transferred to and stored on a server operated by Google in the USA. However, if IP anonymisation is activated on this website and you are located in an EU member state or a country that is party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, Google will truncate your IP address prior to processing.

Only in exceptional circumstances will the full IP address be sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA . Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to produce reports on website activities for website operators, and to provide other services related to the use of the website and of the Internet. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. The IP address transferred to Google Analytics by your browser will not be merged with any other data held by Google.

Although you can adjust your browser software to prevent the installation of cookies, we would point out that if you do so, you may not be able to make full use of all the functions on this website. By using this website, you give your consent to the processing of data collected about you by Google in the manner described above and for the purposes indicated above.

Newsletter

When registering for our newsletter you will be requested to provide certain data. Your registration will be recorded, following which you will be notified by email. You may revoke your consent to receiving our newsletter at any time, thereby cancelling your subscription. We will store your registration data for the exclusive purpose of mailing you our newsletter.

These mailings are based on your consent in accordance with art. 6 para. 1 sent. 1A) in conjunction with art. 7 GDPR and in conjunction with para 7 al. 2 nr. 3 (UWG). The legal basis for recording your registration is given by our legitimate interest in proving that you consented to the above mailings. You may, at any time, withdraw your consent without being charged for any but the usual transmission costs at the basic rates. A text message to the  Economic Development Baselland at welcome(at)economy-bl.ch will be sufficient. Every issue of our newsletter also contains a deregistration link. 

MailChimp

We use MailChimp send out newsletters. MailChimp is a service offered by The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 512 Means Street, Suite 404, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA (hereinafter “The Rocket Science Group”.

The certification according to the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000TO6hAAG&status=Active guarantees that The Rocket Science Group adheres to the EU data protection directives when processing data in the USA. Further information on data protection by The Rocket Science Group can be found at http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

If you register for our newsletter, your data such as our email address and, optionally, your name and address will be processed by The Rocket Science Group.  In addition, your IP address and the date and time of your registration will be stored. Furthermore, we shall request your consent to receiving our newsletter, deliver an overview of its content and refer to the present privacy statement.

The newsletter mailed through The Rocket Science Group will also contain tracking pixels aka a web beacon. The web beacon enables us to see whether you have read our newsletter, when you did so and whether you followed up on any links contained in the newsletter. The corresponding data will be stored as will further technical data such as your IT system data. These data serve to optimise our newsletter offer and to follow up on requests by our readers. Data will also be used to enhance the quality and attractiveness of our newsletter offer.

The legal basis for sending our newsletter and analysing data is given by art. 6 al. 1 litt. a) GDPR.

In accordance with art. 7 al. 3 GDPR you may revoke your consent to receiving future issues of our newsletter at any time. You may do so by sending us a deregistration message or by clicking on the deregistration link provided in every newsletter issue.

If you woult like to contact us (via the contact form or via email) we will process the data pertaining to your request, also with a view to any further questions.

If data are being processed in connection with the execution of pre-contractual measures requested by you or in connection with the fact that you are an existing customer of ours, the legal basis is given by art. 6 al. 1 sent. 1B) GDPR.

Additional personal data will only be processed with your consent (art. 6 al. 1 sent. 1A) GDPR) or if we have a legitimate interest in doing so (art. 6 al. 1 sent. 1F) GDPR). Such legitimate interest might consist in responding to your email.

Google Maps

Our website uses Google Maps to illustrate our location, to map routes and to identify individual areas. Google Maps is a service by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA (hereinafter “Google”).

The certification according to the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active guarantees that Google adheres to the EU data protection directives when processing data in the USA.

In order to display certain fonts on our website a link to the US Google server will be activated.

If you use our website to open Google Maps, Google will place a cookie on your device. Your settings and your data will be processed to indicate our location to you and to generate a route map. We cannot exclude that Google uses US-based servers for this purpose.

The legal basis for doing so is given by art. 6 al. 1 litt. F) GDPR. Our legitimate interest consists in optimising the functionality of our website.

Such connections enable Google to track the website from which your request originates and the IP address for sending the route map.

If you disagree with these processes, you may block the implementation of cookies by providing adequate settings in your internet browser. Details can be found above s. v. “cookies”.

Disclosure of data to third parties

A a matter of principle, your personal data will only be used within our enterprise. If and when we rely on third parties, data transmission will be limited to the extent that such data are required to provide the service requested.
